The Ignitor II's sophisticated circuitry and powerful microprocessor set a new standard of performance.   Combine the Ignitor II with the new, low resistance Flame-Thrower II Coil and you will have the ultimate in electronic ignition conversions.  (See "Features" below.)

The Ignitor II and Coil II combo is not for everyone.  If your vehicle is primarily used for normal driving and the engine is stock, the regular Ignitor and Coil will more than meet your needs.  But if you race, or if you want to realize every last ounce of performance potential from your warmed-up engine, then the Ignitor II and Coil II are the way to fly.

Ignitor II Features:

bulletAdaptive Dwell Control -  Dwell increases with RPM to provide an average of 4 times the available energy between 3000 and 5000 RPM and twice the available voltage at the plug.
bulletA March, 2001 Hot Rod article showed Ignitor II spark duration averaging about 2.5 milliseconds  compared to 1.4 milliseconds average for points and 1.8-2.0 milliseconds average for HEI distributors.
bulletSenses  engine startup and increases dwell to provide hotter starting spark.
bulletSenses if it is incorrectly wired or if the key is left on without the engine running and shuts itself off to protect the circuitry and the coil.
bulletAdjusts spark timing over the entire RPM range to compensate for delay typically inherent in electronic circuitry to provide more stable timing.
bulletStill fits entirely within your existing distributor like the original Ignitors - no black box to mount on your firewall.
bullet30 month warranty.
bulletCARB E.O. #D-57-8, legal in all 50 states and Canada.
bulletSuppression-type spark plug wires required.  Do not use solid core wires.

We at Retro Rockets were the first to test the Ignitor II and Flame-Thrower II Coil  versus points at the drag strip.  We ran a '69 Corvette with a mildly modified 350 engine.  Here's what we got for the average of our best three runs with each configuration.  Note the significant increase in mph.

Points & OEM Coil Ignitor II & Flame-Thrower II Coil
14.698 sec @ 95.41 mph 14.537 sec @ 97.43 mph
