Flemish Harpsichords

canto.jpg (63727 bytes)Flemish Single  (click on photo for full-size picture)

We started with the drawings of the 1640 Andreas Ruckers and performed a petit ravalement, extending the range to accommodate later literature while retaining the Flemish character of sound.  The case is painted with a single color exterior and a complimentary interior color.  The keyboard has grenadilla naturals and bone-topped sharps as would be appropriate in a ravalement.  GG,AA - d''', transposable A415/A440, 1 x 4', 1 x 8', or 2 x 8', buff stop.  Length 76", width 32".

Fully decorated version in the Flemish style includes faux marbre panels on case and outer lid, Flemish seahorsepapers in the keywell, decorated lid papers with Latin mottoes, and soundboard paintings.  (See picture above.)

                  Flemish Double

We enlarged the Flemish Single to provide a full GG - d''' chromatic range, then added a third choir of strings and a second manual.  The case is painted with a single color exterior and a complimentary interior color.  The keyboards have grenadilla naturals and bone-topped sharps.  This is the most easily transported of all the two manual harpsichords.  GG - d''' chromatic, transposable A415/A440, 1 x 4', 2 x 8', buff stop.  Length 85", width 33".

Fully decorated version in the Flemish style includes:  faux marbre panels on case and outer lid, Flemish seahorse papers in the keywell, decorated lid papers with Latin mottoes, and soundboard paintings.

Options:   Full lid painting,  Flemish multi-spindle stand as shown in picture.
